Installing a 0º Vertical Gravity Wall

• Excavate a trench 4 - 6 inches wide.
• Fill trench with well graded gravel.
• Level and compact the gravel leveling pad.
• Install RioStone™ units ensuring that each unit is level.
• Install a perforated drain pipe directly behind wall.
• Use 1 inches of clear crushed drain rock behind wall.
• Install drain rock and compacted backfill materials in layers.
• Use a soil separating filter fabric between the planting soil and clear crushed drain rock.

When installing a RioStone™ retaining wall or free-standing wall 30” in height or taller, a qualified engineer should be consulted. Site conditions may require geosynthetic reinforcement be used to construct taller walls.

Shadow Walls

Vertical, 5 degree, and 10 degree set-back, or a combination of any or batters can be used in a single wall. Shadow walls with individual units recessed or protruding as shown in wall above, can also be built.

Vertical Double Sided Wall

The RioStone™ system has the same unique texture on both sides of each unit creating seven different sized faces. The RioStone™ units can be placed in a reversed pattern (wedge to wedge) to create a solid vertical double sided wall or fence.
